It was a bright sunny thursday morning, around 10:00. I wandered through the airport in Louisville, Kentucky slowly browsing in random shops trying to pass time when I reached the news stand store. I was filled with everything a news stand should be, all the latest magazines, newspapers, books and candy! Thats when I laid eyes on my book my eyes drifted across the cover and...yes! It was was by my favorite author, Nicolas Sparks. All of his books were short reads, romances. I knew that on our eight hour flight it would be the perfect read for entertainment. I read the back cover, found mom and begged.
I know this is not supposed to be a book report but so you're not confused here is a short summary: A girl finds a message in a bottle; it is romantic. She cries and begins a search for the author of the letter. The girl finds him and falls in love. When he finds out that she has several of his letters he gets upset and eventually dies.
Why do people write messages in bottles? I think that it's because In a way it gives them freedom, The author is able to write what ever come across his or her mind knowing that there is a very slim possibility that it will ever be found.
If my dog Derby were to write a letter I think it would go like this . . .
Hello,
My collar reads Derby but I think my name should be courageous. I am the guardian of my house, always fiercely making myself known with my courageous bark. Chasing unknown aliens out my my yard is just part of my job description. These furry things that they call squirrels constantly invade my personal bubble. It's ok though, I chase them up trees, thats courageous. Its also courageous to pick this family, my family to love and take care of. Life is hard, but it's ok, at the end of everyday a good 12 hours of sleep is needed.
-Courageous
A.k.a. Derby
